Samsung has launched a new cellular phone that works on both CDMA and GSM network. The Samsung SCH-W579, is engadget with a 2MP camera, bluetooth and an MP3 player.
Before this dual mode phone GSM/CDMA, I found Motorola cellular phone have this kind of cellular phone (I forgot the type), unsure why Motorola stop this dual mode phone in the marketplace.
Here are the features of the 2 on 2 GSM CDMA Phone Samsung SCH-W579:CDMA 1800/1900MHz, GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz, Business Card Scanner, Touch Screen, 2 MP Rotating camera, MicroSD External Memory, Bluetooth Handsfree, MP3 Player, Offline Mode, 72 Poly Ringtones & Dual Speaker, Video Chatting, High Speed Data Modem (CDMA 200-1X).
Samsung GSM CDMA SCH-W579 comes with a stylus pen, a desktop battery, an extra battery and PC link CD.
I also found kozi, cellular phone .. a brand that I have never heard before also launched dual mode phone a while after Samsung did.
The CDMA rate is cheaper than GSM, unfortunately the coverage is not yet vast compared from GSM's coverage. So here it is, comes the trick CDMA for making a call while GSM for receiving, instead bring 2 cellular phones .. why do not use one cellular phone that works both ways?
